Earthquake Warning: New Technology to Reduce a Critical Threat

We now can provide warnings before earthquakes, giving people enough time to take cover under a sturdy table, slow and stop trains, and isolate hazardous machinery and chemicals at work, thereby reducing damage and injuries. Warnings are now being generated in California; using new smartphone technology, they'll soon be available around the world.
